Cruise

We are visitin Casablanca in July on a cruise. We would appreciate any advice, tips on what to see and do. What to avoid. We prefer to explore independantly - not an organised tour. Is this ok?

Also check the 'Things To Do' tab at the top of the page for reviews of the Casablanca sights

As John says it is fine to do it independantly - I would recommend getting a taxi straight from the port to Hassan II Mosque and then you have various options for the rest of the day.

by the way, there is a good map here to orientate yourself - shows the port, the tram system and most of the major sights are marked on (Hassan II Mosque, the Habbous aka New Medina, Marche Central, Place Mohamed V, Ancienne Medina aka Old Medina etc).

although it is walkable from the port to city centre, it is quite a grim industrial area so you may prefer to take a taxi or your cruise might have a shuttle bus.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

My husband and I also will be there on a cruise. Would appreciate any feedback you can provide from your visit. Did you go on your own (taxi's?) or with guide? Any problem being understood in English? Did you take a tour at the big mosque? Any problem getting to and from port?

thanks to everyone who sent valuable tips and info. We did all the country visits ourselves and were pleased with what we discovered. Had a great holiday.
