Morocco..tour company or do it yourself?

Hi,

We will be going to Morocco in May and would like feedback on a any great tour companies or advice as to should we just book hotels/riads ourselves and go from place to place by train. Is it economical to to hire a car and guide for just two people to travel from place to place? We have driven in Spain and France but no other countries except for the US, and we are a little reticent to rent a car for 2 weeks. Or is it advisable?

We don't usually like being herded along in a tour group......

Well, if you don't like being herded around in groups in other places I don't see why Morocco shouls be any different,, ( I've seen some itineraries where your feet barely have time to touch the ground.) the worst that is likely to happen is that you end up in a bad hotelfor a night.

As to whether you need a car, depends on what you want to do, If you maily want to see the cities, the public transport is OK (& ONCF, the Moroccon rail network, have a decent website). If you want too see the countryside, especially down south, a vehicle seems like a good idea.
