Driving rental car from Fes to Marakesh

What are the key places to stop at while driving from Fes to Marakesh? What are the driving times between those places? Will we drive thru the desert? Can you take a camel ride for a day trip from anywhere along the route? How are the roads?

if you drive from Fez to the region of Erfoud, then you can do the camel ride in Erg chebbi, but if you drive directly to Marrakech, then the camel ride impossible. You can have stops in Azrou,Ziz gorges,Tafilalet oasis, toudra gorges, ait behaddou, and tichka pass and this if you drive to Erfoud. And if you drive directly to Marrakech, then you can stop at Ouzoud water fall.

If you drive to Marrakesh via the Benimelal; Azrou...etc then you'll see just the country side and fields, if you go in destination of Midalt; Errachidia; Erg chebbi... to the south then you probably need 3days to make this route including a camel trek, and then head up to Marrakesh via Ziz Valley the 2 Gorges and Atlas Mountains.
