Cheaper Parking Near Beachwalk Area

If you don't mind hoofing it a couple of blocks....

For those at the Embassy Suites, Reef, Trump and elsewhere in the Lewers Street/Beachwalk neighborhood,

There is a "new" place to park relatively close that can save you twenty bucks or so a day over hotel fees.

King Kalakaua Plaza. The cost is $10 for 12 hours, $15 for 24 hours.

OK, not sure if it is "new" to the world, but we've just discovered it since we recently shifted some tennis to Ft DeRussy.

(Haven't been to the building since the sports bar, the last tenant, closed a few years back).

King Kalakaua Plaza is the modern, blockish building on the corner of Kalakaua Ave and Kalaimoku Street (which changes name to Saratoga Road heading towards the ocean).

Across Kalakaua from the diamond head end of Ft De Russy, right near Tiffany's.

You enter the underground garage from Kalaimoku St,which runs one-way inland, by turning left from Kalakaua at the second street after the spilt with Kuhio Ave. Or by just continuing up Saratoga across Kalakaua.

Pay machine and put ticket on dash. A guy is there almost all of the time. The elevators drop you off right on Kalakaua.

Oh, not sure about in/out policies. You could ask the attendant.

How far would you say it is from the garage to the Outrigger On the Beach hotel?

Yes, that is the building.

On this map, it is the area just to the right of Waikiki Gateway Hotel #16 on the map:

Thank you so much. Now I have a rough idea where to go :) I think the $30 a day at the Holiday Inn is a little crazy.

Has anyone been and asked about in/out privileges? This looks like an option for us in August.

Aloha,

No in and out.

You pay as many hours you want in advance.

Thanks! But if we paid the 24 hr rate but wanted to come and go we would have to pay every time? I don't think I understand. What is the cost per hour? Thanks for your help! Trying to figure out if we can park cheaper than $25 valet at hotel. And if a rental car will really be worth it.

A rental car is worth it.

When you come back for the last time during the day, park there for the $15. Or the $10 for a 12 hour period if you are leaving early the next day to tour the island.

If you need to go back to the hotel or anywhere else in Waikiki during the day (and leave again), you can pay the hourly rate for the couple of hours.

Or you can go to one of the many hotels for lunch & get free or inexpensive validated parking.

Thanks Dusty! I get it now. We booked a car. You are right about how much time and $ it will save us!
