Is there any parking at Lanikai beach? This is our first trip to Ohua and visting this beach is high on the list.On Google maps all I see is houses, no parking lots of any kind. Any help from you awesome TA'ers would be great.

Lanikai is in a residential area. There are no parking lots that I know of. Parking is allowed along the streets, but do watch for NO PARKING SIGNS. The police can and will ticket you. Best bet is to go early.

Most of the parking is on the streets that run perpendicular to the beach.

This map has a good magnification feature. Magnify it to 200% or more & you can see the beach access right of ways. They are blue/green dotted lines.

Also on the right hand side of the page, where it says, "Lanikai Beach", it mentions the best access via public rights of way. It lists four of them. Those are the streets I wold park at.

Also note that certain times of the year there really is no beach at some of the access right of ways. Or it may be better for kayaks. Just go on to the next one.

Also notice in blue/green dotted line a little away from the beach. That is the Lanikai Pillbox hike. Some really nice views from the trail including from atop the bunkers (pillboxes).

From the home page of the link above, you can download other maps & get other info for the area (dining, shopping, etc).

Your best bet is to not park directly on Mokulua Drive---you'll most likely end up at least partially on someone's grass. Find street parking on the side streets or even a block or two away---it's a very short walk to the beach and it will be somewhat less crowded than Mokulua Drive.

There are also lots of "No Parking" areas on Mokulua and yes, the cops will ticket cars that are illegally parked.

And as previously stated---go early. Very pretty in the early morning light, just after sunrise. Or go before sunrise and be treated to a gorgeous one. Waikiki has the sunset, we have the sunrise!
