Public Parking garage near Waikiki?

Hi all,

We're staying up at Punalu'u during our 10 day visit in August, however the family wants to spend 1 full day strolling around Waikiki while we're on the island. Suggestions where to park while visiting Waikiki? We don't mind walking...(but not from Punalu'u!)

The Royal Hawaiian has validated parking, so if you buy something there or eat at the Cheesecake Factory you can get a discounted rate.

Ala Wai Blvd is free.

Honolulu Zoo parking lot is $.25/hour (may go up to $1.00 in near future). 4 hour maximum, but you can go back & feed the meter.

Kalakaua Ave toward Waikiki Aquarium one side is free parking. The other side is metered, same price as zoo parking.

Many restaurants/shops have free or inexpensive:

Todai restaurant used to have validated parking. I think they still do.

Rumfire at Sheraton Waikiki 4 hours free parking with validation.

There are many more. Google or call a restaurant that you may go to & ask.

Magic Island at Ala Moana Beach Park. Its free, but a couple blocks from the Ala Moana end of Waikiki.

Here's a map for affordable parking options in Waikiki.

waikikiimprovement.com/UPLOADS/Parking_Map.p…

Note that the area near the Hyatt and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani is probably the best place to park if you want to explore Waikiki on foot -- it is, hands down, the most bustling and pedestrian-friendly area in an already bustling and pedestrian-friendly neighborhood. There are shops, restaurants, street performers, clubs, coffe bars, live bands, ice cream stands -- everything you want within a block or two.

(If your planning goes awry, you can always pull into any major resort and ask whether they allow visitor parking and how much it costs. The resorts all do a lot of restaurant business, so I suspect most allow visitor parking, though for a HIGH price. For example, Hilton Hawaiian Village charges like $24 to park in their lot for a relatively short time!)
