My wife, my son and I, are Maui bound in about half a month for our first time. My wife and I are in our late 20's, and my son will be 9 and a half months old at travel time(his first flight...). We have booked our flight and accomodations already at this time. We booked a condo in Kihei through VRBO, and in my opinion look to have gotten a nice place at a decent price(hopefully it looks as nice in person). We havent really nailed down any sort of plans for each of our 9 day stay. My Wife & I think it would be wise to have some sort of a plan for each day, which brings me to this site.. I have done some research, in the form of reading posts on this site, and reading maui revealed, but would appreciate any advice on setting up some form of plan for each of 9 days.
We will be arriving in Maui fairly late.. almost 10:30 at night.. is it a problem getting your rental car at that time of night?, Some websites give me the impression that some car rental companies will be closed or closing shortly at that time of night. I was thinking that it may be less hassle to be driven to our rental condo the first night and then pick up the car the next day? Any suggestions on getting from Kahului Airport to our condo the first night? Shuttle, taxi? Also best way to get a cheap but RELIABLE /CLEAN rental car..? like a midsize.. since we have a baby and need space, convertable not an option unfortuneately!
We want this to be a fairly relaxed holiday, we tend to try to do too much on our vacations.. then feel like we need a vacation after our vacation.
Some things that we are intrested in doing/seeing are: The Road To Hana, the Iao Valley. Drive up to Haleakala for the sunrise. Warren and Anabelles show. Some Lu'au.. have 2 in mind but not narrowed down yet.. Old Lahaina Lu'au, or the feast at Lele which intrests me slightly more because it sounds more entertaining. I myself am intrested in trying snorkelling probably just from shore(yes I know how to swim), my wife doesnt seem too enthusiastic about swimming with fish, and probably will suntan on shore mostly or wade in a bit. We are also intrested in nice beaches lounging..relaxing....boogieboarding(again myself).. as for restaurants.. im sure the blue bible will help in this area also.. any suggestions are appreciated. Im sure we will also go into Lahaina.. looks like a cool town. I guess we have ideas of things we like, we just havent organized anything so far, besides the accomodations and the trip over.. We havent booked any reservations yet either(for shows)... so I guess we might not get front row seats ...lol. Any other ideas are welcome.. as to anything you think we should see on our 9 day trip and specific beaches to go to, to me they all look good? Baby friendly activities BTW! (how does maui sand taste btw.. Im sure my son will have to give it the taste test!)
By reading posts on this site, people are fairly passionate about maui, and by looking at peoples pictures from trips I can see why... looks like a very beautiful place, I hope that our trip will be just as beautiful, and again, any help you can provide me for our first trip to Maui will be very much appreciated! Mahalo!
