Another one bites the dust. I hate to see businesses close, jobs lost.
On a lighter note ~ shantybob, now where are you going to get your wild/tacky Hawaiian shirt fix?

Certainly hope someone else can find a market niche and fill the void.
I wondered when this one would bite the dust. Now they need a good store in that location like Target.
It can't be costing Kauai that many jobs, they never had more than one check out open whenever I was desperate enough to step in there. Not the best way to run your business. I have my fingers / toes / legs / arms crossed that Target either looks at that space or builds on the big open lot next to Safeway.
Ha ha Jenz. That was funny. Yes Kmart was last on my list of places to buy things but what on earth will all the cruise ship people when there is no Kmart bus to take them shopping???? Bye bye Kmart. Won't miss you and there are plenty of jobs for their workers. Unemployment on Kauai is at an all time low.
10 + years ago they carried a great selection of fishing tackle, but not so much in the last few years. However, they were always stocked up on tons of clothing and souvenirs, must have sold so much to the cruise crowd. I’m sure the mall businesses wil suffer some too, since the folks on the Kmart shuttle walked over to the mall.
3chi's I know about the shirts. The ones in Walmart do not compare. Fingers are crossed for Target.
It's not the last KMart in the state. There's one in Kailua-Kona.
Thereʻs no evidence of a plan to open a Target on Kauaʻi on their website.
