Coxen Hole

The U.S. government travel info. states that Coxen Hole should be avoided after dark. How safe is it during the day? Do we need to be cautious of pick pocketers or anything else in particular in this area?

How much time do you plan to spend there? I'd say take the usual precautions.

People go into town to buy groceries, use the bank, walk around a bit, grab a drink and a bite to eat, all the time.

I've even been to a street festival one night and didn't feel the least bit fearful. I had a great time!

That said, I don't think I'd have gone wandering off some side street on my own either.

We just got back last night, and once again just use common sense, the side streets are narrow and you have to stop and wait for people to move out of your way,do that at night,no.We've got the save recommendation from people all over the carribean, on different islands ,stay out of the neighborhoods at night. For the last 12 days, everyday we went into coxen hole, french harbor, never had anything ripped off, never accosted, everyone was pleasent.

Just remember take a visa debit card, mastercard isnt accepted at ATM's.
