Where Oh Where To Go

We are going to stay few days around Half Moon Bay at Seagrape then take the cat over to Utila and stay at Lighthouse. We can't decide where to go for the final 3/4 days. Want to stay at the east end of Roatan. Any ideas would be appreciated.

have you considered a stay at little or sandy cay off of the southwest end of utila?

pretty little "desert islands" that you can have all to yourself for about $100 a night.

Thanks for the flickr link. Wondering how far it is to swim out to the reef at Camp Bay.

Saw your whaleshark pictures. Awesome creatures. We did a trip out of Holbox Sept 09.

Hi Divenuts

We looked at them but with my tag Lighthouse was the place to go. Thanks for all the info in your posts on Utila.

The reef is farther out at Camp Bay than Sandy Bay. I swam in from the reef one time when we'd gone out in a kayak and I wanted to stay longer, but realistically you need a kayak to have easy access. It's interesting to explore the mangrove areas and there's some great snorkeling on the south side, too, accessed through a channel cut through.

We'll be heading back to Roatán for a week followed by a week at the Lighthouse on Utila this summer. We've considered the boat accessible home rentals, too, but feel a quiet location walking distance to town is better for us - easy access to groceries, fruit, street food, and the dive shop and restaurant we like best - we're looking forward to a return visit there, too.
