I'm planning our upcoming trip to Lake Atitlan. It all looks so amazing I'm having a difficult time deciding where to stay! My husband prefers a little luxe to rustic and then there is the teenage boy(13 & 15) factor.
Which village would offer some "ambiance" that we might enjoy a little stroll in the evening. And which hotel would you then recommend in that area?
Things that are helpful to know about us:
I speak fluent spanish, my husband loves art galleries, my 15-yo wants to be a musician (plays guitar & drums) and my 13yo, is easy to please but probably prefers fancy over rustic.
Ideally, it would be great for all of us to stay in one room around $150-$200. But, we are agreeable to splitting into 2 rooms for the same price point.
Three hotels have hit my radar:
1. Hotel Villa Santa Catarina
2. Porta Hotel del Lago
3. Posada de Santiago
I love the Posada in Santiago, but am worried it might be too isolated and quiet for my men. The other 2 are in Pana ( I think) but don't accomodate 4 ppl in one room. I guess I"d have to get a 2nd room? Any clarification/advice on this lodging predicament would also be appreciated!
We are an active family who will probably spend most of our time exploring but we also love our nap time! :)
Thank you so much in advance for your replies!
