I have been told that with only 11 full days I should stick to Antigua, Atitlán Lake and Tikal area.
And if I could add some days to my (Christmas time) itinerary?
Our main interest are archeological sites, nature, wildlife.
Not interested in adventure and beachlife.
Let's plan as if I could choose how many days staying after defining the first part of my itinerary.
What about the following?
1 - From Guatemala city to Copan Ruines with private transport (for saving time). Visiting the town and minor attractions around there.
2 - Early morning visit the Copan ruines themselves (not the town!). Then private transport as above to Quirigua ruines. Sleeping in Quirigua or Rio Dulce.
3 - Lazy day on the Rio Dulce, may be to Livingston and back (does it makes sense?) Night in Rio Dulce.
4 - From Rio Dulce to Tikal area.
As for day 5 to .... (who knows?) the schedule could be:
- visiting Tikal area. By the way: apart from Tikal and Yaxha, what would you suggest visiting to nature and wildlife lovers?
- flight to Guatemala City (flight for saving time).
- To Lake Atitlán and then to Antigua.
Do you thing days 1 to 3 are too rushed?
Any suggestion is welcome.
