Where are the best white sandy beaches that are like Mexico or the Caribbean? Also, where is the best snorkeling and diving?
Frankly, there are few white sandy beaches like Mexico or the Caribbean. Most of them are of some kind of volcanic origin so you will see mostly beige or yellowish or even black sand.
Punta Uva and Manzanillo on the Caribbean side are as close as you can get to what you are thinking of, but not like them. Of course, there are many other more beautiful thing to see in the Caribe Sur area of Costa Rica.
You may want to consider the north Pacific coast. Playa Conchal is regarded by many people as one of the best beaches in the country, composed of finely crushed shells. You're also close to the diving at the Catalina Islands, around a 20 minute boat journey from Playa Flamingo. Have a great trip!
We do not have that kind of beaches as Mexico does....but Mexico does not have what we offer...great beach Conchal ...and of course some great white beaches at the Caribbean side of the country!
Yes just keep in mind that although the sand may not be at the same asthetical quality for some, there are beaches where rainforest literally backs up to the beach. Monkeys are swinging nearby while you enjoy the beach. I find this even more appealing than sand color or quality. Everything is just more natural here.
Thank you so much. We are definitely looking forward to the natural beauty that Costa Rica offers and can't wait to enjoy the rainforest along with the beautiful beaches!
