Honeymoon Itinerary Help

We are planning on booking our honeymoon to Costa Rica for 4/25/10 through 5/2/10 or 5/3/10. We want to get the best value for our trip and be able to enjoy as much of Costa Rica as possible. We are beach loving, adventurous, and cultural people, but we also want to enjoy a little seclusion and romance. We are trying to stay within a budget of $3,000 including international airfare from Houston, Texas. Any suggestions on possible honeymoon itineraries?

You can have quite a nice trip for $3000 for that time period. Assume $750 for airfare, and you have $2250.

I'd probably limit it to two destinations for 8 days. If you have 9 days you can probably go up to three destinations.

One destination would obviously be a beach destination. There are a ton of nice beach destinations in the country. One place you may want to look at that struck me as a perfect honeymoon spot is the Ylang Ylang Beach resort in Montezuma:

It's a little splurgey, but it includes not only breakfast but also a gourmet dinner for each night. It's incredibly romantic--you sleep and eat and walk 50 feet from the ocean.

There are dozens of other beach spots, but that's the one we'd recommend. You can also do a zipline in Montezuma (which includes a swim at the top of a waterfall), explore a couple of national parks/wildlife refuges, take a snorkeling tour to Isla Tortuga, or just have a fantastic time doing very little.

As far as other parts of an itinerary, do you have interests besides beaches? If you like rafting, I'd strongly recommend doing a trip on the Pacuare with Rios Tropicales. You can spend your first night in the San Jose area and then do the Pacuare the next day.

I suggest you check on Langosta Beach, near the Tamarindo area. Great beach, secluded, perfect for long morning walks, great dinning just a few minutes away, wildlife/adventure/tours, everything can be arranged from the hotel or vacation rental. Great places to stay, ocean views, jacuzzis...

Have a great honeymoon
