January without AC?

We are looking at Duplooys and am concerned about the heat for health reasons. Will it be a concern or not is what we wonder.

We are looking forward to spending time in the Jungle and considering taking the ATV and tubing tours. We will be coming back from 7 days of non-stop diving and want a place to take in the most of Belize's flavor.

Any input?

If you have health reasons, I would play it safe and use a property that offers AC. I just visited Ka'ana in November and all of their rooms and dining room have AC. The properties without AC have fans in the room which do cool them down. The thatch roofs also do a good job of keeping them cool from the sun. But if you get hit with hot and humid weather it could be too much for you to handle.

It can get downright cold at night in January inland. I've never felt the need for AC, in fact, quite the opposite in the evening. DuPlooy's is in the hills, where it's much cooler than the coast. If you were coming in May or June, you might need AC a few nights, but even then I doubt you'd need more than a fan.

Have a cool trip!

In January on Ambergris Caye, I'm usually reaching for a blanket, not thinking about turning on the a/c.

But, I love hot weather......

It is usually pretty cool in the evenings in January. The days are in the 80`s F and the evenings generally drop into the 60`s F. Take a sweater or light jacket, and pack a set of warm pajamas. I believe Ka`Ana is very nice and upscale, but would not say it is in the jungle.

Have a safe and healthy trip.

We've been very comfortable in a bungalow at duPlooy's in March and April. The cross ventilation and ceiling fan kept us comfy and the siting in the jungle over the Macal River is great. You feel truly immersed in nature, day and night.
