Lunch around Water Taxi in Belize City

We will be arriving in Belize City around lunch time and heading to a water taxi to get to Caye Caulker. Are there any good places to grab a bite close to the water taxi terminals?

Any information would be greatly appreciated as we are traveling on March 5. Thank you in advance!

If you are coming in via a cruise ship, you can stop at the Wet Lizard on the main dock.

We will be coming from the airport and taking a taxi to the water taxi terminal. Is the Wet Lizard close?

Thank you for the prompt reply!

Yes it is close, the driver will drop you off there. Actually and surprisingly, I prefer the nearby Radisson Fort George for lunch, a nice civilised room, lovely view, good Belizean food served buffet style, and the same kind of price as wet lizard. I think Wet Lizard very touristy, and plays very loud music, whereas the Radisson is actually frequented by Belizeans looking for somewhere nice to eat. At the other end of the scale there are lots of little food booths right opposite the Water Taxi terminal, and if you are on a budget, these are ideal. You will have to eat the food balanced on your knee in the terminal though.

Good information. The Radisson might be a good way to start off our first time in Belize.

The first time I went to the Wet Lizard, they gave us a menu with ridiculously high prices quoted in US$. My friend, who knew a waitress, asked for the Belizean menu with lower prices quoted in BZ$.

Another good place might be the Riverside Bar & Grill, but you would probably need a taxi to get there & back from the water taxi terminal.

If coming directly from the airport, I'd suggest going to the water taxi first to reserve your ticket, then going for lunch. I think I'd take my luggage with me -- if you leave it at the terminal, make sure it's locked and there's nothing valuable.

From the water taxi terminals, you can walk (without luggage) to the Radisson or Wet Lizard, or Nerie's.

Definitely need a taxi to get to the Riverside,, and I don't think it is quite such a Belizean vibe although I like the food there and the draft Belikin. If you do eat at the Wet Lizard have the fish and chips served with a seaside bucket and spade that you get to keep - cute! Still like the Radisson idea best, and like I say, it's unusual for me to recommend something so mainstream.
