Both Tropic and Maya Air request 45 minutes between the time of your international arrival and your departure to a domestic destination.

Do be aware that you won't be able to carry on even a small roller bag. Only something like a purse or backpack. It will be on your lap.

It's a very short flight, probably only 10 minutes. It's lovely!

Thanks! Good tip! I'll check out their baggage allowances carefully.

Does it take much time to get from the international arrival (customs clearance) to the departure location of the domestic flights?

Seriously, it's maybe 50 feet from where you clear Customs to the Tropic Air check in desk. A few more to Maya Air. It's a very small airport.

I would't pay too much attention to the posted baggage allowances. We come for months at a time, with lots of luggage, and have never had a problem. They're used to divers with lots of equipment.

My favorite is Ambergris. White sand, blue water. Lots of choices for lodging, food and drink. It's busy, by far the most developed beach destination in Belize. Compared to places in, say, Mexico, though, it's laid back and pleasant.

Caye Caulker is fun as well. Much, much smaller. Beaches aren't as nice. Heading there today on a day sail. Love hanging out at the 'Split'.

Hopkins, I've never been. Sounds like a cool little town.

Placencia is a peninsula in southern Belize. About 16 miles long. The village of Placencia is at the southern tip. Fun little town. Plenty of lodging and food choices. Long way to the reef (19 miles).

If you pre book with tropic air they will wait for you and hold the plane. If you feel you are running a bit late... while you are waiting in line for customs just flag down one of the porters and tell him you are booked on a tropic flight. He will tell the customs officer what's up and grab your bags as they are inspected and rush then to tropic. They always seem to be able to quicken the customs inspection!!!
