Water taxis airport to CC- report

We had a very easy trip both directions, but both days were calm, so maybe we were lucky,

$US25 taxi ride from the international airport. The driver will know which ferry you can make.

It's hard to get the ferry times off the internet. The most accurate times I found were on the Seaside Cabanas website.

I believe it was $US10 each way for adults, a little less for kids ten and under.

Caye Caulker Water taxi was more comfortable the San Pedro Water taxi, both crowded, but CCWT had pads on all the seats, which is a minor point, but did add to the comfort! I wouldn't wait an extra hour just for the pads though.

There's a third water taxi service which lands on the opposite shore of Caye Caulker. I didn't catch it's name, if you need info, you could email your lodging and they will know.

Here are the links to the 3 water taxi services...

a) Caye Caulker Water Taxi Association:

If the link still isn’t working, the schedule from a recent newspaper ad is posted on my BelizeBus site:

b) San Pedro – Belize Express Water Taxi:

c) San Pedro Water Jets Express:

We plan to visit Caye Caulker in May with a toddler (1.5 yrs). The description 'speedboat' makes me a little worried. Are water taxis secure enough to bring a little one on board?

Also, do you know how long the ferry ride would be from Caye Caulker to San Pedro? I find departure times but can't find a site that says the duration of the trip.

Thank you so much!

the water taxis are pretty well enclosed these days, at least the front of them. they all aren't the same either. Your toddler won't be able to wander, not smooth enough, and usually pretty crowded.

Water taxi from Caulker to San Pedro is 20-30 minutes.

Thanks so much for the reply!

Also, unrelated to ferries, but how bad were mosquitoes on Caye Caulker?

I spent the first three months of this year on Ambergris, with a few trips to Caye Caulker, including one overnight. Mosquitoes are pretty seasonal. Other than the time we went exploring at the small Mayan ruin site on Ambergris, I don't think I saw a dozen mossies in the three months.

That said, I've been in June when they were pretty bad. Depends on how much rain there's been, also how windy it is.

Was just on Caulker, and there weren't many mosquitoes bothering us.

Young kids are fine on the water taxi.
