Hurricane Richard

Just wondering if anyone on CC can say how they made out with Richard passing through. We are heading there in just under 3 weeks (staying at Canuck Cottage) and, while I realize this was not a very strong hurricane, CC is so low lying that I am a bit concerned about how everyone fared (knowing that a previous hurricane created The Split).

News is that CC is fine. The mainland south of Belize City got the brunt of the storm. No-one died, and people are cleaning up and helping each other.

Only certain parts of the country sustained damages. Power has been restored to most areas and we are in clean up/repair mode . People are back at work going about their lives and assume this weekend, many will lend a hand to help those who need it. We unfortunately lost one and possibly two fisherman in the storm. The story of the third is incredible as he hung onto a piece of wood and floated in the sea for 1.5 days til Coast Guard found him. One body recovered and the CG looking for the 2nd person or body. Fingers crossed they find him alive.

Have you heard about ambergris caye? We have plans to arrive on Saturday and stay for a week. Was there a lot of damage?

Thanks

Happy that Richard chose another path, however sad that it did hit the mainland. The weather blogs gave excellent information. We are also staying with you at Canuck Cottage at the end of November!

Ciao! See you then!

Ambergris Caye was prepared for the storm, but not in the path and is fine. People were snorkeling in Placencia that day.
