Beaches and Ocean Swimming?

My husband and I are thinking of vacationing on Caye Caulker this April (either at Iguana Reef Inn or Seaside Cabanas) . Both have pools but we both love to swim in the ocean. Is it possible? If not on their beaches can we walk to another for swimming? Thanks for your help. Salina

Not really. We were just there. You can swim and snorkel at the Split. Its also a beautiful area too. Pretty good current through there, though. The split isn't a far walk from where you are. Actually nothing is that far away.

The beaches have turtle grass which might have rays.

There's three different ones.

Seaside Cabanas near the water taxi pier in the main part of town. Iguana Reef is on the lee side a little further away. We walked there but didn't go on the grounds. It looked very nice.

Most of the best snorkleing / swimming is done at the reef about one mile or so East of the island. The reef is pristine and teeming with fish life. There are areas where you can swim with sharks and sting rays. Ras Creek does an excellent snorkel tour.

Thanks and cheers,
