Condos in San Pedro

I am currently researching for our March 2014 trip to San Pedro. We are planning on renting a house/condo for our family of 4. Our children are 16 and 21. Would you recommend Tera Del Sol or Grand Caribe? Our budget is approx. $2000 for one week.

I've never been inside either property. Grand Caribe is a full service resort with on site restaurant and several pools. A couple miles north of town, there are several restaurants within walking distance.

Tara del Sol are nice looking condos. Pool on site, but, not a full service property. Less than a dozen units. A couple of miles south of town.

I would probably go with Grand Caribe. I think your kids would be happier with more people around.

We went over the summer and stayed at tradewinds paradise villas. After seeing other condos on the island I can honestly say best condos in San Pedro. Much more private. Right on the beach. Center of town. A minute walk to a great supermarket.... And way less then you have budgeted.

Paradise Villas are great but they are in no way at all comparable to Tera del Sol and Grand Caribe. I'm with Jeanh. If you've narrowed your choices down to those two, then Grand Caribe for sure.

We stayed at Xanadu. Although not classified as a condo, there wasn't anything that we lacked. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, with kitchen, dining and living room with television. One of the bedrooms also had a television. We were on the 3rd story, had our own large deck with table and plenty of chairs and own hammock. Views were of the garden and ocean. There are washer and dryer facilities on site as well as free snorkel gear and bicycles to use. Golf carts are also on site and can be rented. I can't say enough about this resort. My husband and I went along with our 21 yr. old son. The rooms also have books to read. The kitchen is equipped with a large refrigerator, every utensil you would need, plenty of space and daily maid service that does amazing work and also does the dishes. Also, a beautiful swimming pool., They have their own pier that you can go snorkeling off of and under. Plenty of beach towels and an outside barbecue. Staff was extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We'll go back again and vacation at Xanadu.

As managers of The Landings at Tres Cocos we would like to take this opportunity to reassure prospective guests that there is absolutely no truth to the malicious allegations recently posted by Mark Edwards. We are certain that former guests are well aware of the fact that Mr. Edward’s comments are totally false in their entirety, with the exception of accusing me of being happy. We have never dumped raw sewage on the ground and have been found to be in full compliance with local health regulations as recently as January 6, 2014. Much to the dismay, but complete understanding, of the majority of the condo owners at Bermuda Palms we resigned as managers shortly after Mr. Edwards became a resident of the complex. It is clear on our website and Trip Advisor that we do not claim to currently manage Bermuda Palms. We do not manipulate reviews in any form or fashion and we have never posted any false reviews. All reviews may be verified by contacting the authors of the posts. We do not believe this is the proper forum for us to discuss Mr. Edward’s character or motivations for his defamatory comments. We have instead placed the issue into the hands of legal counsel. We are not being boycotted, as is evident by recent positive reviews and guests currently enjoying a vacation at the property.

We just finished are vacation on the island, staying north of the bridge from San Pedro to the north part of ambergris caye. I'm not sure if the options you are reviewing are north of the bridge..if so, I would seriously reconsider. Once you cross over, the properties become more self contained and very few options exist for places to walk to of any interest. Plus, it's a 5 dollar charge every time you cross the bridge. If you have kids, they will be beyond bored, transportation becomes a hastle and everything takes longer to do.
