I leave for Guatemala/Belize on Thursday and going to Semuc Champay-Rio Dulce-Finca de Paraiso-Livingston-PG-Caye Caulker-Tulum-Cancun. I will be trying to see most of the major sites and activities along the way. But if anyone has any suggestions they really enjoyed that are not in the travel guides I'd love to know about them. Thanks

How much time do you have for your trip? No time in western Belize for caving, hiking, or Maya sites?

11 days and already a full plate. but always open to something new or different. I am planning on do some stuff around PG. drumming lessons and a homestay at Na Luum Ca. snorkeling tobaco caye also. i think i got these suggestions from you and others on another forum a while back and i sure appreciate it. due to my low budget and time i travel fair quickly. I can rest when i'm dead.

In my opinion that's already waaaay to much to fit into a week and a half. I know you feel the need to cram in as much as possible given limited time - as so many travelers do - but actually what you're planning will dilute your real time by half because most of your days will be transition days. It takes 2 nights to = 1 day to explore; if you're moving every other day, you're spending half of your vacation days enroute and some of your distances will take most of the day. I'd rethink so you can at least spend more time off buses than on them. Just my 2 quetzales' worth...

Sarteneja is a great place that gets few visitors. You could get there from Caye Caulker (via water-taxi and Thunderbolt water-taxi) in about 4 hours and be that much closer to Tulum.

i see your point ...... i think the pace will set its self during the trip. you are not the first with that opinion. I'm sure I will have to weed out some stuff. thanks for your wisdom!!!
