Xmas week - crowds on the mountain and in town?

We are looking to travel to Aspen for Xmas week. Generally we ski in the north east that time of year. Here, the few days around Xmas day are often relatively quiet on the slopes, and then a day or so after Xmas Day the crowds show up. Is it similar in Aspen? Or, that entire week is packed? Both on the slopes and in town?

Would it be the same for Snowmass?

And, do both mountains have some good snow making capability? We are mostly intermediate skiers but like the restaurants and such that Aspen seems to offer. Thanks in advamce.

Yes, it's a busy time of the year but I'd say half the crowds you'll find in Vail or Breck.

The pattern here is the same as you mention in your post, however, the crowds are a fraction of what resorts closer to Denver have as well as a fraction of what the North East have (since you have such large cities like Boston and New York close by).

If you are looking for nightlife stay in Aspen. AspenHotel is good also The Innsbruck. Both are nice properties. Do take a day to ski Snowmass it is fantastic.
