Length of stay?

How many days/nights would be reasonable to take in major sites and relax with some down time as well. Our timeframe is a bit flexible.

Thanks,

Nancy

1. Re: Length of stay?

Lots of us take the morning Catalina Express out about 9 am on a Friday and return home on Sunday. Enough time to relax and see things or play golf.

In summer we might go M-F to avoid weekend crowds and enjoy the beach. People on cruises see all they can in a day. Try to avoid Tuesdays when the ship is there.

Some go overnight, but many hotels want a 2 night stay on weekends.

What time of year were you thinking of going? How many days do you have?

We tend to do the same as CANative. We like to have some downtime as well as some activities. Head over on Friday morning and back Sunday afternoon.

Thanks for your reply. We are going sometime between March 7-14, and have up to about 4 days.

Honestly, in March, four days would be too long for me due to cooler temps. In the warm summer months you would be able to swim, go to the beach, but ocean will be to cold. Not many hotels with heated swimming pools. It's fun to rent a golf cart for a couple hours, as there is a route around town you can take to get some good views of Avalon. There are some shops to browse, lots of bars and restaurants, mini golf and bus trips to the interior of the island. Two nights would be fine.

We usually stay at the Pavilion Hotel right across from the water in town. They have some private patios, a large grassy area with tables and lounges to relax, breakfast, a fire pit to sit around with evening wine and cheese. Don't feel like we are limited to a hotel room, as the courtyard is very nice to spend down time.

Have fun on your trip.

5. Re: Length of stay?

I normally do Friday thru Sunday....Getting there and going back eats up half a day easy.

This June I'm going m-f for the first time and will spend half of it at two harbors.

One of the best parts of the Island is outside Avalon. Once you leave the town and do some hiking you're in a totally different world.
