Hi

We will be visiting Anaheim in Jan 2014 and wonder what we can expect weather wise when we get there?

Regards

January is one of our winter months and during the rainy season in California. In Southern California, there actually can be sunny days with temps in the high or mid 60's F. But there can also be stormy days with downpours for much of the day or in the overnight hours. It is possible to have a very chilly day in 50's F with strong winds. Rain could just be showers off and on. Nights are colder than days. Sunsets are around 5 p.m. and sunrise around 6:30. Coldest temps are before sunrise. Unless cold winds blow during the day.

Rain will effect the area theme parks somewhat. Even with fairly light showers Disneyland may cancel their parade for the safety of the performers, so they don't slip. In that case, they will have a rainy day calvacade - a group of characters go down the parade route in one of the covered Main Street Vehicles such as the trolley. Knott's Berry Farm will close if it rains hard, especially during off season slower days. (Folks are notified at the entrance.) Both parks will close order rides if their tracks are too wet for safety's safe.

Probably more chance of heavy rainy day in mid Jan or late Jan. But hard to tell in advance. Skies and hills in So. Cal are beautiful after winter rainy day.

Outside rides, not order rides.

Hi, My family just visited this past January, it was very cold, we didn't get any rain, but I did gave to go out and buy heavier jackets. The nights got down to about 4 degrees and the days 15-16, I see your from Melbourne, I would compare it with Victorian June/July weather. Its still a great time to visit as the xmas decorations and parades run till about mid Jan. And even though the pools at our hotel were heated, we still found it too cold to swim, so do pack your winter gear.

Welcome to the forums Blair O,

When are you visiting in Jan? There are times you would want to avoid if possible, and some larger events at Disneyland during that time period.

If you would like help finding somewhere to stay, we can also help you with that part of your trip If you can give us a budget per night for somewhere to stay, and what kind of accomodations you are looking for.

You can stay directly across the street from the Disneyland Main Entrance and easily walk to Disneyland. Most of those are going to be standard Motels, with a few Hotels in farther walking Distance. There would also be Hotels farther away where you can take the Art Shuttle service for a small fee per person that goes from Disneyland to alot of area Hotels multiple times.

Here is a Map of Hotels in the Disneyland area so you can see where things are located. The Disneyland Main Entrance is off of Harbor blvd near where it says "East Shuttle Area" on the Map.
