where are good and scenic places to go for visitng wineries

Going to be in Anaheim for business and am not interested in Disney. Where could we go to see some good scenery and taste some wine ?

thanks much,Coleridge

The Ortega Highway would be a scenic way to Temecula, but not very practical. It would add 40 minutes or more to an hour drive.

The Laguna Canyon "Winery" is really stretching it to call themselves a "winery". Yes technically they ARE a winery since wine is made there, but they don't grow grapes there. See the Google Map of the winery below.

This map is how I envision a winery.

That is Longshadow Ranch Vineyard & Winery in Temecula. They grow their own grapes onsite and have a large facility for making the wines.

Here is the guide for Temecula wineries.

I also like Hart, they make very nice reds.

Always like to stop at Tom's Farm for a bite for lunch, sometimes on weekends they have bands playing, good people watching, etc.

As mentioned, the scenic route is through the Cleveland National Forest is a great rip, basically head south to San Juan Capistrano and head east on Highway 74. I would drive it one way, and during the day. It is windy, but has some great views. Then use the freeway system (I-15 to the 91) on the way back.

As much as I love the Coastal Highway system, I would save it for another day, and just use I-5 to San Juan Capistrano.
