hotel with kitchen - not kitchenette

I am posting for a friend who is planning on coming to disneyland near the end of May. They have a child with severe allergies and therefore would like to prepare most of their own food. They cannot seem to find a hotel with a full kitchen (fridge and stove). Have found many kitchenettes with just a microwave. Any suggestions?

Every Residence Inn (a Marriott brand ) that I have ever stayed at had a full kitchen. I know there is at least one near Disneyland. So check that, and good luck.

The one thing you won't find at most Extended Stay/Apartment Hotels is a traditional oven. But many places, like the Residence Inn Maingate will have the "flat top" stove - electric, a full sized fridge, a microwave, and sometimes a small dishwasher. And they provide the dishes, pots, pans, etc.

There are not as many places with a full kitchen, extended stay Hotel may have that option as mentioned.

The Residence Inn Maingate is well rated Hotel, and would have full kitchens and larger rooms with a full Free Breakfast and "social hour" on some weeknights with free parking. Its about a 15 min walk to Disneyland and has an Art Shuttle service stop at the Hotel. It is also close to alot of good restaurants across the street in the Anaheim Gardenwalk.

If it is more important for them to be across the street from Disneyland in very close walking distance.... there would also be the Tropicanna Inn, which is a standard Motel and has a larger suites with a full kitchen, its about an 8 min walk across the street to the actual turnstiles that go into Disneyland.

Here is a Map of Hotels in the Disneyland Area, the Disneyland Main Entrance is off of Harbor Blvd near where it says "East Shuttle Area" on the Map.

And there is the Art Shuttle service mentioned which goes from alot of area Hotels to Disneyland multiple times per day for a small fee per person

Here is more info from a recent thread about food allergies at Disneyland.

Some dates they may want to avoid being at Disneyland because it will be busier in May would include

Memorial Day Weekend which is May 25-28 for 2012

Grad nite Parties which is a party for high school seniors graduating in 2012 will be held on select dates in May and June. The 2012 event includes admission to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure during regular operating hours, and a private party in Disneyland after the park closes to the public for the night.

Preliminary dates are listed here

disneyyouth.com/grad-nite-disneyland/catalog

The Goth event, Bats Day is May 18 - 20 2012

Most of May is considered the "off Season" so hours are usually shortened during the weekdays something like 10am till 8pm M-Thursday and 8am till 12pm Fri-Sun with the Fireworks show and Fantasmic show usually only being show on the weekend nights Fri, Sat, Sun

Just so you are aware, Canadian residents can get discounts on Disneyland tickets, here is that info from Mousesavers which is a good resource for you that lists current discounts on attractions for you (they do not sell tickets)

www.mousesavers.com/dltickets.html#canada

And if you are interested in a Multi-park discount their is also a good Southern California City Pass Discount for Canada residents through Costco.ca

FYI, the Homewood Suites is in the city of Garden Grove, and not in Anaheim. For most folks, it is not walking distance, though shuttles are available.

Re Homewood Suites -- I love them. They really do have real kitchens (although without ovens). Full size refrigerator, dishwasher, cooktop, microwave, coffee maker, utensils. I've seen various rooms at Residence Inns and while the larger ones usually have full kitchens, the smaller ones sometimes only have a kitchenette.

I think the reviews for the "Anaheim Main Gate" Homewood Suites are pretty good.http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g32420-d217220 While it may be technically in Garden Grove, it is close enough to the DL resort area at Harbor and Chapman to be named as it is.

Maingate Marriott Residence Inn has full kitchens in all rooms including studios.

We were just at the Residence Inn and was very happy with it.

What is nice also is they have a very nice hot breakfast in the morning.....

everyone seemed to be enjoying it.

The swimming pool is 24 hours - (quiet times after 10:00).

There is also a nice barbecue area.

We had a really good time there.

Highly recommend it.
