Entertainment in Agoura Hills and surrounds

My mother and I are visiting my aunt in Agoura Hills from London, UK, at the beginning of November 07, for seven days. My aunt is bed-ridden now and we will spend the days with her, but my mother is keen I may find something to amuse me/her at least one evening! It's short notice, but could contributors suggest any venues to investigate in the surrounding area? We love the theatre, music, film etc.

Regards

THE CANYON CLUB has dinner shows with lots of fun bands. Many of the 80's bands play here as well as others. http://www.canyonclub.net/

Nov. 09 - Lights & Queen Nation

Lights - a tribute to journey

Queen Nation - a tribute to queen

Nov. 10 - Tommy Shaw & Jack Blades

Tommy Shaw: Styx

Jack Blades: Night Ranger & Damn Yankees

THOUSAND OAKS CIVIC CENTER is a nice center that has all different types of shows coming through.

There are plenty of movie theaters (look on the MANN Theaters website - for Agoura, Westlake Village or Thousand Oaks) in the area.

There are also some good restaurants and places to have a nice martini in the area. Let me know your likes and I can steer you in the right direction.

Juxie is correct but, from what I read between the lines, your Aunt may be of the Greatest Generation and may not like the offerings of the Canyon Club.

This is basically a bedroom community and there isn't a whole lot to do. If you are able to, LA and Hollywood theaters are only about 45 minutes away and have quite a bit more to offer.

If a nice quiet restaurant is needed I'm sure Juxie and I can give you some great recommendations in the general Agoura area.

Dr. Z - funny meeting you here :) I realize it is a small community - but now we bump into each other on line too :)

Dear 'Dr K' and 'Juxie',

Gosh! This website works amazingly well: thank you for your kind suggestions, you're quite correct, my mother appeared with WC Fields (family joke).

We will be staying in Thousand Oaks, with a car. Any suggestions for a quiet restaurant in the Agoura area would be fantastic, but I appreciate that responding to small queries is time-consuming and this website has thrown up some suggestions too.

Just for your information as reading the suggestions - along the 101 freeway heading west from Agoura Hills to Thousand oaks these are the following cities - all are close and good areas to eat. I have also include web pages so you can peruse the menus.

Agoura Hills / Oak Park / Westlake Village / Thousand Oaks / Newbury Park

Padri's Restaurant (Agoura Hills) during the week is nice and cozy - has a bar area with big fireplaces. Food and service both good. On weekends though - it gets very busy. Italian food. http://padrirestaurant.net/

Mandevilla in Westlake Village is also Italian, quiet atmospher, excellent food and service. http://www.mandevillarestaurant.com/index/

Piatti is the other Italian restuarant I would recommend. A little busier - but you can still carry on a conversation without being able to yell at each other. http://www.piatti.com/

If you like seafood, Fins in Westlake Village is very good. http://www.finsinc.com/

At the Westlake Inn is Mediterraneo. I have not been there since it changed names, but when it was Le Cafe, it was also very cozy and relaxing.

There are plenty of other places as well - but let me know if any of these work and if not - what price range you are looking for and food type.

The above are all good choices and you can't go wrong there.

Other choices...... if you like Sushi try The Landing in Westlake. You can walk around there afterwards and enjoy the scenery, perhaps feed the ducks.

If you want a more lively place try MOZ Buddha Bar & Lounge. Asian fusion food with entertainment on Friday's and Saturdays.

Also in Westlake try the Promenade Mall. A beautiful shopping area with a theater (movies) shops, places to eat or have a cup of coffee. I often see entertainment personalities (also known as Hollywood Stars) there, especially on a weekday. It's only 5 or 10 minutes from Agoura.
