Apache Junction for

I was disappointed to see a previous contributor suggest that A.J. was 'not so nice'

Its a great place. Close to the Superstitions & Goldfield mountains. Fantastic walks, horseriding & loads to see & do. It has all the shops & malls nearby that you could want. Beautiful desert (& mountain) views, near all the main roads whilst being near nature. Its lovely & rural, peaceful & quiet with all you need.

There is so much to do between all the 'western' activities in the area such as Goldfield Ghost town, who have gunfight shows every Sat & Sun from the end of Oct thru April. Theres Pioneer Village, Rawhide, Tortilla Flat, amongst many others.

Of course every weekend through February & March theres the Renaisance Festival closeby, which is excellent & hugh.

Tell me Canadian & Northern snowbirds with all that, plus much more including antique malls galore, art exibitions & great dinner shows etc here too, wouldn't you like to rent a little place here & chill (warm) for the winter? A safe 55+ haven, with pool & hot tub!

Welcome to the forum Shotgunpurdy. It's good to have some inside info for AJ. I must admit I've missed it but maybe for next time.

And don't forget the wonderful nearby Mesa Marketplace!

Thanks for your post shotgunpurdy! And welcome to the forum too! I sometimes spend the winter in AJ in my RV. As you stated, it's the perfect place for that western rural feeling, while being conveniently in between the city life of Mesa and the natural beauty of the Superstition mountains.

We have stayed in Gold Canyon, just outside AJ, the past two Septembers.

As well as what you have stated we have taken the Dolly Steamboat Canyon Lake cruise, the Heard Museum in Phoenix (?), Casino Arizona free shows weekly, Superstious Skies bar, The Garage for great pizza, good fishing, golf , lots of shopping, and more.

Planning on making a return trip this year.

We live in the UK and spent a few days in AJ last April. My main reason for visiting was to see the Elvis chapel because I am a huge Elvis fan. Apart from the Elvis conection, we found AJ a really nice place and we will be calling in again on our way to Tucson in April.
