January visit

I will be visiting my mother (a snowbird) in Apache Junction during January, accompanied by my 18 year old daughter. Suggestions for things to do close by?

1. Lost Dutchman State Park - hiking, nature trails.

2. Drive the Apache Trail.

If you don't want to drive on the unpaved part, at least drive as far as Tortilla Flat (paved). Beautiful scenic drive. (Goes past Lost Dutchman above.)

3. Shop at the Mesa Marketplace.

A unique shopping experience. Definitely not your run of the mill swap meet. Very popular!

There is plenty of malls, restaurants, movie theaters, etc. in Mesa (the town adjacent to Apache Junction). What kinds of things do you like to do?

Too bad you'll be a bit early for the Renaissance Festival (starts in Feb.).
