Lodge to cross country ski

I'd love to take an overnight trip to Chicago to a ski resort in Wisconsin that has a nice lodge and learn how to cross country ski. Does anyone have suggestions of places within driving distance? Can be more high end. Planning on mid-February.

How far are from Chicago are you willing to drive? Southern Wisconsin is getting rain today and may be as warm as 50 degrees tomorrow. Unless we get a good cold spell and snow, you will need to go pretty far north to find good trails. Just something to consider.

the links may be geared towards downhill skiing but you can find cross country easily at many too.

Minocqua (Minocqua Winter Park) might work for your group. About 6+ hours out of Chicago but lots of groomed trails, instruction available, and they just got snow. There are other places w/in easy driving distance to X-C ski too! About 25 miles north is the Discovery Center in Manitowish Waters with 20km of X-C trails and Boulder Jct., which has a mile or so track, as well.

Try these links:

Could help with lodging if interested.

The overnight thing probably wouldn't work but if you chose to extend then, Minocqua could certainly work for you.. Good luck!
