A taxi will probably run you about $12 - $15, depending on whether you are charged a rush hour premium or if they are still charging that fuel surcharge. If you want to take the Metro, there should be several stations near your hotel, if I recall correctly. Use the website mentioned above, type in the hotel's address, and you'll get a map of nearby stations.

As I recall, the Sofitel is on 15th Street, at H, I believe. If that is the location, you'd only be a block or two from the McPherson Square Metro, which is on the same subway line on which DCA is located. It is a straight shot, no transfers or anything. There is a quicker way locals might take, but for tourists don't bother changing trains, just get on the subway and take to McPherson. Pretty decent area during the day. From what I recall, the Sofitel is very conveniently located, just a few blocks from The White House.

Cheers,

Dev
