hotel within walking distance of Metro

Topic really says it all. Would like not to go much over $150 a night, 4 people in party, Two kids 11 and 12. This would be for October 7th and 8th. We will be seeing a soccer game at RFK. Would like pool, internet and cheap parking but the the most important is walking access to the metro.

The Holiday Inn in Southwest DC meets all of your qualifications. Plus free meals for the kids. Check out the reviews here.

I enjoyed the Hampton Inn Suites in Crystal City. Great deal for value. Large rooms.

The Hilton Garden Inn Arlington Courthouse Plaza -- rated #1 on the TA "hit parade" of Arlington hotels -- still has some of its largest rooms (2 queen beds) available for those 2 nights. $134/night if you prepay in full, or $149/night for a reservation you can cancel up to 24 hours ahead of time without penalty; these rates can be found via Hilton.com

Quick walk to Metro station, FREE parking & a hotel shuttle which services the local neighborhood.. But it has no pool...indoor pools are pretty rare in the DC area & seasonal pools will be closed, I imagine, by the time you arrive -- if they aren't already.. Here are the glowing Garden Inn reviews:

Rooms with 2 double beds are available at the Holiday Inn on Rhode island Ave, NW are available for $120/night (full pre-pay) or $126 (cancellable) via holidayinn.com; rooms at the HI on C Street, SW are running about $30/night higher.

Hope this helps!

The Holiday Inn is only a few Metro stops from RFK, and you can take either the Blue or Orange line. Staying in Virginia is farther away, and it may require a change of trains. In addition to being walking distance from the Mall, the HI has a rooftop pool (if the weather's still warm), wireless internet access (including in the lobby and the adjacent Starbucks), and free on-street parking in the evenings and on weekends.

Come to think of it, Marriott's new Residence Inn is one Metro stop closer to RFK. It has better food offerings in the evenings, but the neighborhood is far less desirable.

Hi, drwong

The Holiday Inn on C Street & the one on Rhode Island Ave seem to almost always be the least expensive of the HI's in town, so would you be kind enough to give a comparison of the two? I think that would be great info to have on tap here :-)

I don't know anyone who has stayed at the Holiday Inn on Rhode Island Avenue and I haven't directed any family or friends to that location, primarily due to its relative inaccessibility (it's five or six blocks to the nearest Metro station) and the lack of amenities in the surrounding neighborhood.

If the Capitol one was booked, I would probably direct them to the one in Georgetown, on Wisconsin Avenue. It's a very short walk to the shops and restaurants, and there's a Safeway store right next door in case they needed groceries (it's called the "Social Safeway" because of all the attractive young Georgetowners who frequent the store - and you'll never know who you'll run into - one night I saw a former CIA director shopping there!). Four Metrobus lines stop at the front door, taking you north to Tenleytown Metro and the National Cathedral or south to Georgetown, the White House, and even the Capitol (and with a bus transfer, you'll have free access to the DC CIrculator, unljke Metrorail, where you'll still have to pay 35 cents for a Circulator ticket).
