Hotel in the Countryside

Hi,

We are looking for a nice hotel/inn in the countryside of DC. Poplar Spring inn was our preferred choice, but unfortunately everything is booked.

Does anyone have any recommendations on hotels like Poplar Spring Inn or Morrison house?

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards,

Mette

Morrison house is in Old Town Alexandria, which is a nice little town just south of DC. Lots of places to eat and walk around. Very friendly, you can bring your dog into most shops (which in the US is uncommon). It isn't exactly the countryside like the Poplar Spring Inn is, so you might want to look for other places out in the Warrenton area if you want to get away from the city.

The Inn at Little Washington is another nice spot, but very pricey. Great restaurant.

Depending on how far out in the country you want to be, you might want to check out the Marriott Ranch in Hume, VA. I went to a daylong training there a couple of months ago and they have a great bed and breakfast at the ranch (with rooms with both private and non-private baths). There are numerous activities on the ranch including horse back riding and it is in Virginia wine country.

The ranch website is: http://www.marriottranch.com/

HI,

Thanks for your help so far.

As we are driving down from NY it would be convenient if the inn/hotel was located somewhere not too far from the (primary) driving road between NY and DC.

Spa and/or swimmingpool would be appreciated.

In that case, you might want to check out the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake. It is a beautiful hotel on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

There are also numerous historic hotel and bed and breakfasts in Annapolis as well as in St. Michaels, MD on the Eastern Shore.
