$50 restaurant certificates for $25

Here in Cleveland, various radio stations offer $50 restaurant gift certificates for $25 plus $3.50 shipping and handling. They offer a limited amount of certificates at a specific time and people go online to purchase them. Some of the restaurants offered are expensive ($30+ for entrees) and very nice.

Are there any radio stations that do the same in DC? I might want to purchase a couple, especially if it is a nicer restaurant before I come to DC.

Thanks for any information.

I've never heard since a promotion here -- you might want to contact the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (www.ramw.org) to see (1) if they have any promotions/discounts available to you, and (2) if they'd consider starting such a deal for us here!

I've never heard of anything promoted by the radio stations, but the whole thing sounds a lot like restaurant.com, which has restaurants signed up nationwide.

Their certificates generally top out at $25, but cost only $10 and you can find plenty of discount codes online to bring this down 60% (i.e. to $4) with no shipping/handling, as you print the certificates out yourself.

Sometimes there are restrictions on the days of the week they can be used, minimum party size, etc., so read the fine print before you buy. And Google the restaurant name looking for reviews. (Washingtonian Magazine and the Washington Post are probably the best sources online.)

Bon appetit!

Yes,

Go to this website within DC101:

http://dc101blackmarket.com/

However, I am unable to give any opinions of the restaurants listed since I have not been to any of them yet. Of course, be wary of the address because not all of them are within the District. Some, however, may be accessible via the Metro. For instance, Rockville, Bethesda and Arlington among other towns are along the Metro, whereas Manassas is not.

Good luck!

thanks shapsra for the link. the setup on their website is identical to a couple of the ones offered here in cleveland. i noticed that the dc radio station uses the same company (clearmart) for their gift certificate distribution.

Hi, if it is not too late, please try restaurant.com. When it asks for area, Washington D.C. It will give you a list of places, price of certificate and often the menu and if there are any restrictions. You can print the certifictate from your printer. Hope this helps.
