December 4-10 visit

I have several questions. We are staying at the Embassy Suites Georgetown. I am ambulatory but have trouble walking distances. We are seniors. My first question is how far is the hotel to a metro stop?

2. We have tickets for Nutcracker at the Kennedy Center for Dec. 7th. Should we plan on taking Uber or Lyft or call a cab? And how difficult should it be to find transportation as we leave?

3. Is there an on-off bus that goes all around the Mall?

4. We want to spend one day at My. Vernon. Is there a bus or train that goes there? Is that too far to take Uber?

5. Last one—Is there a bus or train that could take us from the hotel to National Harbor? We plan to have dinner there.

1. The nearest Metro station from that hotel is the Foggy Bottom/GWU Metro station. It is about 1/2 mile away.

2. I would take Uber/Lyft/cab to the Kennedy Center. It will not be a problem getting Uber/Lyft/cab after the performance.

3. There are several HO/HO bus companies that go around the National Mall, but they can be a bit pricey. In December, there may be a lengthy wait between buses, so I'd recommend staying on the bus for all the loops first. Then you can go around again and get on and off. If you don't need a narrated tour, you can take the Circulator bus around the Mall. It costs only $1 per ride. See: https://www.dccirculator.com/

4. You can get to Mt. Vernon via a combination of Metro and bus, but it takes awhile and it's probably not something I'd want to do when it's cold outside. For details, see: https:/… If it were me, I'd pay for Uber. It's about a 35 - 40 minute drive from your hotel.

5. There isn't any feasible public transportation to National Harbor from D.C. You'd need to take Uber/Lyft/cab.

2. You don't mention an actual distance limit to your walking. It's 3/4ths mile between your hotel and the Kennedy Center if that works for you one or both ways.

If that walk is manageable only with a break, you might enjoy District Commons for dinner or a late-night snack--it's mid-way along the walk. http://www.districtcommonsdc.com
