Not that seeing a movie is on the top of your list of things to do in DC, but I went to this old theater in the middle of Old Town, that reopened a year or two ago to see Sideways last night. It was a different experience, one that reminded me of seeing movies when I was a kid.
Except now, you can have a beer or a "glass" of wine and I think they even serve a steak dinner.
They show movies, tonight they are showing the NCAA championship game. Music on the weekends. The owner came out and introduced the film and some upcoming events at the place. I don't know why I liked that, but I did.
www.oldtowntheater.com The website was a bit clunky on my Mac, so don't know. You can look at the next two weeks schedule at the bottom. They don't plan many things in advance, so you have to check in once in a while. Tickets were $7 and a beer was $4.
If you are staying in Old Town, this is a fun little spot for a movie or music. If you want to get away from the downtown crowds it is not crowded, very laid back and a nice small town feel.
