Looking for public gym

We are staying at Avenue Suites Georgetown and are looking for a public gym that we can use on a drop in basis. It's my 15 year old son that is interested in the gym and it would be ideal if he could walk to it (so within a mile or two would be ideal).

Doesn't need to be a huge gym, just something with some weights and machines. The gym recommended my the hotel front desk is membership only with no drop in.

He can get a 30 day guest pass to Washington Sports Club. It isn't as easy as paying by the day, but it is an option if he is visiting a few times.

Another option - The November Project offers free morning workouts

I was going to suggest WSC as possibly being able to do that, at least you could ask, because they do have one in Georgetown. Most gyms don't allow that, I'm pretty sure. Be careful with WSC in terms of giving them your credit card. I belong to them and they are fairly incompetent and have very bad management or non-existent management in the clubs themself. But it's close. I would pay in cash, if possible. Also, make sure they understand you are just visiting or you'll have to spend a lot of time with sales pitches.

Now you can do that very cheaply in a DC city-owned fitness center, but there aren't any in the wealthier areas. There is one in Columbia Hts, that would probably be the closest to Georgetown. I think it's less than $10 a day.

Personally, I'd forget about a gym for a few vacation days, you must be getting a lot of exercise walking around, anyway.

Are you sure your hotel doesn't have a deal with that gym to allow drop in hotel guests? How about changing hotels to one with equipment ? Might be an easier solution. :)

Check minimum age requirement if your 15 year old son is planning to go without you. Could be an issue.
