Citronelle vs Inn at Little Washington

We are celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary. I have reservations at both Citronelle and the Inn at Little Washington. Now I have to choose which one. Need your help. Both have outstanding reviews. For me Citronelle is 45 minutes away while the Inn is 120 mins. inn is also $100 more expensive. Which gives the most bang for the buck? We want an excellent special occasion experience. Suggestions?

If you are doing your own driving, the difference in travel time would make the choice easy. The last time I ate at either was so long ago, I can't rate the food. I'm sure either would be special.

Inn at Little Washington. Find a B&B nearby and make it a romantic weekend in the country.

Or stay at I@LW if you can get in there (and afford it!).

Inn at Little Washington is in a different league than Citronelle in my view. I second the thought of getting a room somewhere out there and making a night of it.

I agree with the two earlier comments: book a room at a nearby B&B [or at the Inn at LW if you can afford it] and stay overnight. Eating at the Inn is such a special experience: you don't want to feel rushed, or that you can't have wine with your meal.

Have a wonderful birthday celebration!

Wow. Thanks for all the great advice. Ultimately we chose Citronelle since both are on our list and it was closer. It's a good thing we did. As soon as we arrived in DC, our babysitter called saying she was sick and had to leave. Once we got home my wife and I had subs with our kids. The sitter and her older sister spent the next 6 hours in the emergency room. So we will need to reschedule.

How terrible! Hope your babysitter is doing better and that you get to enjoy a nice belated anniversary dinner at one of these places.
