Washington Transpotation

We are headed to Washington for a family vacation in a few weeks.. Someone told me they thought I could order a Metro Pass Map.. I think it would be a good idea but we cannot find one online.. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Also, it has been suggested we take the open air bus at least once.. (of course, I think it is tOOOO cold to sit on top!!!) But, can anyone suggest a particular company?

Metro Pass Map? Not quite sure what that would be. Info for DC's Metro trains and buses can be found here: http://www.wmata.com/

If what you are referring to is a Metro Pass, they can be very convenient for a tourist in DC. It might not be the cheapest option though, depending on how long you will be visiting and where you are staying. You can check out the options here: www.wmata.com/fares/purchase/passes.cfm

You may want to check with whoever suggested you take the open air bus to see if they still think it is a good idea in freezing temperature. If they still say yes, then invite them to sit in a walkin refrigerator for half an hour to show you how they would enjoy it. LOL.

Seriously, it can be a good experience in warmer weather. But in freezing temperate after two snow storms? Not so much. It also depends on whether you enjoy sitting in a convertible with the tops down. Some people do, others don't.

If the idea is experience a double decker bus, may be you can take the megabus for a short trip to New York? It has double decks - enclosed.

Open Top is the name of a sightseeing company that does tours, including hop-on hop-off, in DC. http://www.opentopsightseeing.com/ As I recall it gets some of the poorest reviews of the several companies offering similar tours. FYI, the lower level is enclosed, so you don't have to sit outside.
