Hello everyone. Wow - I've been reading all these posts and you all are a helpful, knowledgeable bunch!! :) I've been browsing through the posts about the LV loop suggestions, possible itineraries, and we seem to be getting closer to figuring things out based on your suggestions. It will be my husband and I and our 2 boys (8 and 5). We've never been out this way before so like everyone, we are trying to fit as much as possible in without stressing ourselves out.
We will fly into Las Vegas early, walk around there for the day, stay overnight and head out early in the morning for UT. We found what seems to be a fantastic resort, especially for families - Zion Ponderosa Resort - that appears to be right next to Zion NP. It also says it's 75 min. from Bryce Canyon, which seems to be different from the other distances I've heard. Not sure which side it's on - it's listed as Orderville, UT. So, we were planning to stay there 3-4 nights and use it as a base for both Zion and Bryce. Does this seem reasonable?
I know that the suggestions for the short loop I've read suggest the Grand Canyon and not Moab, but I really would like to make Moab/Arches NP instead. Would it be crazy to do 1 night in Vegas, 3-4 in Zion/Bryce, and then 3 nights in Moab? When I googled it, from Orderville to Moab, it said between 7-8 hours - does that sound about right? What would the best drive from Moab back to Vegas (with some stops to keep the boys and ourselves sane) and how long would that take?
Any feedback is appreciated - we are completely open to anything that will make this a good trip for all of us.
