3 night stay in Rhode Island area

My wife and our two teenage daughters are planning a trip to the east coast which goes fly into Philadelphia 2 days Washington 3 days Niagara Falls stopover somewhere on route to Boston after 3 nights in Boston we want to spend some relaxing time and we are thinking of the Rhode Island area before we hit New York for the last three nights of our trip,

we will have a car but hope to just laze during the day and off for a meal the evening and people watching any suggestions for our Rhode Island base would be most appreciated

You can also think about returning your rental car in the Newport area and taking Amtrak out of Kingston RI to get to NYC.........a pleasant way to avoid the traffic hassle.

You will need to do a car service or a taxi to Kingston but well worth it IMHO

Jamestown has a great park called Beavertail. Beautiful views. Jamestown is a very nice place, and quiet. Newport is definitely more busy, the mansions are incredible and are available for tours. Thames street in Newport is great for food and shopping, and lots of clubs for nightlife.

Providence is also a great place to visit. Lots to do downtown, you can visit Thayer street by Brown for some great food and shopping. Lots of people watching can be done there. Very eccentric area.

Narragansett is also beautiful.

If you're looking for a nice park to relax in, Colt State Park in Bristol offers plenty of space and beautiful scenic ocean views you should expect from Rhode Island
