A weekend on the east coast

Hi all,

I am new to this site, so this might be the wrong forum to post this question.

We are a group of 5-6 guys around 24 years of age interested in spending a 3-day long weekend (May 27-29) somewhere on the east coast. Something involving nature, history or activity (beaches, natural wonders, camping, hiking, rafting, etc.) is what we are looking for. Can somebody point out which would be the ideal place(s) for us to visit? I am having a hard time locating the hottest destinations from the plethora of options that Google throws at you. It would be really nice if someone would take the time to help me out.

Come to Rhode Island. We have it all. on May 27 there will be a Waterfire on the rivers in downtown Providence. google "waterfire". walking along the riverwalk is a beautiful as well as historic experience. Our beaches are beautiful though too cold to swim in May. for more info www.pwcvb.com for statewide information, bbarnes@rihs.org for Providence information - perhaps to book an historic walking tour. get back to me here if you have further questions.

Check out Narragansett. Best surfing beach in New England. Ferry to Block Island, near nature preserves, kayack rentals (pond, river and ocean), close to Newport for some nightlife without paying Newport lodging prices, good places to eat, close to Providence for Waterfire, close to casino action (in CT), close to 15 golf courses at prices that can't be beat. Geeze, why doesn't the tourism department hire me!?!?

Hello- If you are looking for all that, check out Acadia national Park in Maine. Although it will not be very warm at that time. There is rafting in Maine on the rivers, but you are not near the beach or anything historical really. You could also visit Martha's Vineyard, or Newport RI. Provincetown on Cape Cod is nice if you are looking for a gay friendly destination. Nantucket has lots of history and is lovely as well. And of course, Boston is great too! Maybe that will narrow down your choices a bit. Good luck!
