Centralia--how to do it?

Planning a sidetrip to Centralia on a trek through Ephrata and Hershey. Anyone know the best route to get to the town? If you have been to Centralia, I would love to hear about your visit as well!

From Hershey your best bet is to take Interstate 81 North - the directions you get from Yahoo driving directions will work well. I hope you don't expect to see much - there isn't much left in Centralia. Most of the town is overgrown with bush. You can't actually see the mine fire up close. In nearby Ashland is the Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine which gives you a tour of a non-working coal mine - the web site is http://www.pioneertunnel.com/home.shtml
