Oregon Coast- where to hear crashing surf?

A long time ago, my friend and I drove the Oregon Coast, and pulled into a small motel where I heard the ocean roar so loud I felt like we were sleeping in a sea cave. Being from the midwest at the time, I thought it was fantastic. Can't remember where on the coast it was. Any ideas out there so we can make plans for a weekend trip?

Perhaps the Inn at Spanish Head?

I think the area might be right- around Lincoln City- my travel book says this stretch of the highway was called"20 miracle miles" where Portland families come to vacation in the summer and lots of small motels are on this stretch.

Yachats sounds familiar- I think it may have been up the road from there.

My book says the Inn at Spanish Head is built into a cliffside. Does the water come very close at high tide,- into a rocky cove- because I do remember waves sounding like thunder- which I enjoy- I could see some people finding it annoying when they're trying to sleep- like my husband- ha.

Thanks for the input, and we'll head for there sometime soon.
