girls weekend July 2013

Any suggestions for 3 Cleveland girls in our early 30's heading out for a long weekend in July? We would like to get away, but would like to keep with in 3-4 hours from home. We love fun and excitement, good food and some relaxation. Last years trip was to Niagara Falls and we had a blast! Any suggestions for this year are greatly appreciated!

Put-in-Bay & Kelleys Island; Pittsburgh; and Columbus. You also could try Mohican Region if you consider canoeing, boating and perhaps a hardwood zipline excitement.

Ooooh! I'm loving the Mohican idea. We've all been up to Kelleys and PIB. Thanks!

It's not in Ohio, but have you considered Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa in Pennsylvania???

Mohican also isn't far from Holmes County Amish country and route 39 is a great rural drive.

If you go to Mohican region, definitely check out the nearby Mansfield attractions, as described in the travel article linked in the last post. Also, Malabar Farm State Park is a personal favorite, and there is a very good restaurant there (see travel article) in one of Ohio's oldest surviving stage coach inns. You might want to check out the Shawshank Trail, if you're a fan of that movie.

If you do make it to the Mohican region, please post a trip report!

Make reservations ASAP if you want to stay at the Mohican State Park Lodge or cottages. They are popular in the summer.

Good planning!

Mohican and Amish country is a good mix.

If you want more relaxing and more hiking-- the Hocking Hills area is great. Can rent a cabin for the weekend.
