traveling through north dakota

I am going to be traveling from calgary alberta to Toronto ontario. The route I prefer to do is through north portal and down through minot and then to fargo. Is it ok to travel there now (i am leaving on friday) or should I go down through montana and across the i-94?

I would really prefer to north portal route but if it is going to cost me alot of detours i will fall back to the montana route. Anyone that could comment on the roads it would be greatly appreciated.

Your best place for road information is that the ND DOT sight. They have a road report map that is updated several times a day. Here is the link for the map:

Here is the link for their site in case the map takes too long to load or if you are using a smart phone:

Minot has had quite a battle with water this year and there are still some road closures within a 50 mile radius, but you should be able to find a route.
