Places to stay near Knife River Indian Village NHS?

Eight of us family members will attend a family reunion in Steele, ND, in late June, and then will head north to Highway 2 and west through Montana. We would like to visit the Knife River Indian Village NHS on our way north, and so would like to stay the night before somewhere nearby. Should we look for motel rooms in Bismarck, or is there anyplace in the Washburn/Stanton/Hazen areas?

There is a Scot Wood motel in Washburn...not sure of what you would expect. It does look a bit worn out, but I've never been in it.

Riverdale has a place to stay: http://www.riverdalehighlodge.com/

Pick City has the http://www.sakakaweamotel.net/

In Hazen there is the Roughrider Motor Inn.

Again I haven't stayed at any of these places, they are small town motels. If you want something newer with loads of amenities then stay in Bismarck. On the other hand, you can see more of small town ND if you stay in these smaller towns.

We have stayed at Roughriders Motor Inn some years ago. Nothing special but it was clean and friendly. We also visited Knife River. Great visitor center but we had seen it in a couple of hours with some walking around.
