Five Star Alliance

Five Star Alliance

I just came across the Five Star Alliance web site, and for me this is better than Leading Hotels of the World, Relais & Chateau, and Small Luxury Hotels all rolled into one! This is a great resource for luxury travel--all the hotels are individually selected and you can book directly through them! The site is very well designed, and each hotel entry has lots of information and photos. there are also reviews from people who have booked through the Alliance and then stayed at various properties.

It is not limited to small hotels--it features all sizes.

The only question: are they reliable? Does anyone have any experience with Five Star Alliance?

Hey Yar55...When I started read your post I was under the impression that you were recommending 'Five Star Alliance' ! The only Star Alliance I am aware of involves airlines (Lufthansa, LOT, Austrian, etc..) Do you have a site for the one you're referring to?!

Hi Yar55, I work for Five Star Alliance and wanted to answer a few of your questions and help explain us a little more - although I can't of course speak on behalf of our clients.

We've been around almost 2 years and currently feature around 1,500 luxury hotels worldwide (with more being added in the coming months). We are different from SLH, LHW, Relais & Chateaux and the others in exactly in the ways you mentioned. We hand pick the best luxury hotels, regardless of brand, so we are able to feature a real comprehensive collection of luxury properties. I think that our customers appreciate that we recommend all of the truly great hotels in any given city.

We are also different from the large, generic online travel agencies because we don't buy and resell rooms or charge customers at the time of booking - what we sell on our website is real-time availability directly from the hotel, and we don't charge any fees (the hotels handle all of the billing and policies). Plus, we pride ourselves on our personal service (which, of course, I hope our clients vouch for).

I don't want to throw a sales-pitch or anything like that, but if you have any further questions, please let me know, or feel free to contact us through our web site (the one you mentioned above).
