Upcoming Albuquerque trip- need safe hotel advice.

In a few months, I’ll be traveling to Albuquerque with my 80 something year old mother to visit my son, and would like a SAFE hotel in the northern part of the city/Rio Rancho area- for a few nights- any and all advice is appreciated! Thank you!

The major hotels along I-25 north of the I-40 intersection (at least two or three exits north, best not to stay right next to the intersection) are generally quite safe, if a bit uninspiring. We frequently stay at the Nativo Lodge when overnighting in town prior to an early-morning flight out of ABQ and are quite happy with it -- fully adequate for safety, more local color than most inb that area, decent value for dollar. There are other possibilities that are similarly satisfactory.

What about around the cottonwood mall area? Just in that broad general area- any safe hotels around there?

No, there aren't any hotels near Cottonwood Mall. The closest hotels would be on New Mexico 528 in Rio Rancho, about two miles north of the mall area. There are maybe 1/2 dozen along 528, and there are local and chain restaurants in the general area.

Thanks for your input. But is the area safe? Where you mentioned hotels are?

Yes, the Rio Rancho area is perfectly safe. No problems along 528.
